EarthWorks 2001 inc. is located in Calgary, Alberta Canada. With over 19 years of  design and construction, we are still proudly serving Calgary, Alberta and surroundings. Our principal activity is the management and construction of large-scale earth retainment. We've had many years of proven experience in constructing a wide range of projects.

Our team has extensive expertise as project managers and directors in various situations. We are skilled in overcoming any obstacles and acknowledging the intricacies that may be involved with retaining earth while keeping a positive and most of all a safe work environment.

WHAT DO WE DO?

EarthWorks 2001 inc.  is the only company in Calgary, Alberta and surroundings that exclusively specialize in large-scale earth retainment.

Modular retainment in and around Calgary has really accelerated in the past 15 years due to the city growing west. Unusable hills can be terraced for any degree of projects. These engineered systems can be used in a large variety of situations. Some of those situations are:

• Roadway expansions (DOT)

• Projects requiring mechanical geogrid connections (positive connection)

• Hill extension / reduction for land utilization

• Raised and lowered land

• Parking Lot leveling & extending

MagnumStone

Earthworks has installed all modular retainment products in the past but as the spring of 2006, there is a new product we are excited to introduce to our list of products we can professionally install! 

Magnum Forms Inc. & CornerStone Wall Solutions inc. are proud to bring you the most functional safe retainment product in the world!!! MagnumStone.

MagnumStone units are one of largest hollow core retaining wall systems in the world. Each unit weighs aprox. 1375 lbs. and has 8sq.ft. of retained face area. With its unique connecting lug system and tapered sides maximum flexibility is offered during construction. Installation time is nearly four times faster with this machine laid system as compared to other retaining systems. Units of this magnitude have incredible high built in factors of safety to provide the structural integrity all Design Engineers require. The units are manufactured by Wet cast Precast giving each unit the freeze thaw advantage and almost no F-florescence problems. Multiple face options and custom designs are available.

• Dimensions: 24”H X 48”W X 24”D

• Face Area: 8 square feet

• Weight: (aprox.) empty 1375 lbs.

• Colour: natural or custom.

• Concrete mix: 25mpa or custom.

• Max height without geogrids: 6 feet.

• Base, middle, corner, drainage and top blocks are available.

• Horizontal half units, end caps and fence plugs are also available.

Segmental retaining wall systems (SRW) have been proven to be durable, economical and attractive. In accordance of the design methodology by the National Concrete Masonry Association (N.C.M.A.) the MagnumStone block out performs all other systems with its unique connecting lugs and contained drainage gravel infill. Along with the addition of geosynthetic reinforcements most all required engineering heights are achieved with overwhelming safety factors depending on soil conditions in that area. The block was designed for larger retainment problems in mind, including D.O.T. projects needing a mechanical connection. A special top block has been designed to eliminate having to use a copping unit and aid in drainage swale design. Fences are installed by simply using our post plug designed to slip inside the top block.

All contractors will benefit the patented self aligning connection lugs aiding the speed and quality of installation. Straight walls, curved walls and walls turning off of walls are exciting building features. Lower installation costs are always welcome. Built in safety features include guy line hook up directly to the block being installed.

Natural tone rock face design is the most popular, matching the sandstone rock on most sites. Custom face designs and colors are available. Large shapes can also be placed in the wall using a number of blocks like a puzzle.
